Speak with us about urgent care options
Villa Behavioral Health works with Tricare. It covers mental health treatment and substance use disorder rehab as core benefits for service members, retirees, spouses, and dependents, and we work with Tricare plans at Villa Behavioral Health. How you access that care depends on your plan and status; our admissions team confirms your specific benefits in about 15 minutes.
Yes. Mental health care is a covered Tricare benefit, including psychotherapy, psychiatric care, and structured programs like partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient treatment. Tricare’s own covered-services rules list both mental health and substance use disorder treatment, so the benefit exists; what varies is the path to using it.
The clinical fit runs deep for military families. We treat PTSD, depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder, conditions that follow deployments and military life home, alongside co-occurring substance use. Care runs under Dr. Courtney Scott, MD, our Medical Director, whose background includes emergency and addiction medicine, with clinical programming led by Danielle Decembrino, a licensed therapist and Certified Trauma Professional. Trauma work is not an add-on here; DBT, narrative therapy, and somatic approaches are the core of the clinical day.
Substance use disorder treatment is a covered Tricare benefit across the continuum, from detox through outpatient rehab. Tricare outpatient rehab benefits matter most for the members we serve, because PHP and IOP deliver intensive treatment without a hospital stay: 6 clinical hours per day in PHP, Monday through Friday, typically 2 to 4 weeks, stepping down as recovery holds.
Alcohol is the most common reason military families use these benefits, and alcohol rehab is covered on the same terms as other substance use treatment. Dual diagnosis care means the drinking and the PTSD or depression underneath it are treated in the same admission rather than referred to two different systems.
Which Tricare plan you carry decides how you get here. Tricare Prime is the managed-care option, and getting specialty care generally runs through a referral from your primary care manager. Tricare Select is the self-referral option, where you choose your provider and pay a cost-share. Reserve Select and Retired Reserve follow the Select pattern. Active-duty service members have their own authorization requirements through their command and primary care manager.
In Florida and across the East Region, Tricare is administered by Humana Military, which handles the authorizations and claims behind your benefit. Our admissions team works with those processes during verification, including checking whether your plan needs a referral before treatment starts. One exclusion to state plainly: Tricare for Life pairs with Medicare, and our programs do not take Medicare, so TFL is not a fit; the number on your Tricare card can point you to participating providers.
Tricare benefits are family benefits. Spouses and dependents carry mental health and substance use coverage under the sponsor’s plan, and a large share of the coverage questions we hear are a spouse asking for themselves or for a young adult dependent. The answer starts the same way: the benefit exists; verification confirms the referral and cost-share picture for the specific plan and the specific family member.
Marriage and family strain is its own reason military families reach out. Family therapy inside a treatment plan is part of our programming through our Family Program, and many Tricare plans include benefits for it when it is clinically indicated. Standalone marriage counseling coverage has its own Tricare rules; ask during verification and you will get the real answer for your plan rather than a guess.
A clinical assessment recommends the starting level; verification confirms how your Tricare plan applies to it, referral requirements included.
Fifteen minutes by phone settles what your plan covers and what it requires.
Members can also check covered services directly at tricare.mil or through the number on their card.
The most common Tricare complication is not a denial; it is a missing referral or authorization, especially on Prime. Surfacing that requirement during verification, before admission, is exactly what the process above is designed to do, and it is the difference between a covered admission and a claim problem.
Where a plan genuinely limits a level of care, our admissions team documents the clinical case for it and prepares the paperwork your plan needs. Nothing about finding out costs anything: the verification call is free, and it commits you to nothing. Anthem coverage options can vary significantly based on the specifics of your needs. Our team is here to help you understand the various plans available and assist you in making informed decisions.

The practical difference is the referral layer: commercial members mostly choose a provider and go, while Tricare Prime members route through a primary care manager first. Verification tells you which path applies to you.
Yes. Substance use disorder treatment is a covered Tricare benefit, spanning detox, residential, PHP, IOP, and outpatient care. Your plan type sets the referral requirements and cost-shares, confirmed in a 15-minute call.
Usually not; most beneficiaries pay a cost-share or copay that depends on plan and sponsor status, though costs for active-duty members can differ. Verification gives you the exact numbers for your situation.
Yes. Mental health benefits extend to spouses and dependents under the sponsor’s plan. The referral and cost-share rules for the specific family member get confirmed during verification.
Family therapy that is part of a clinical treatment plan is covered under many Tricare plans, and family work is built into our programming. Standalone marriage counseling follows separate Tricare rules; verification answers it for your plan.
On Tricare Prime, specialty care generally requires a referral through your primary care manager. On Tricare Select, you can typically self-refer. We check your plan’s requirement during verification and tell you exactly who has to do what.
Yes, both are covered levels for mental health and substance use treatment on most plans. Our PHP runs 6 clinical hours daily on weekdays, and verification confirms your plan’s terms for it.
Yes, on the same terms as other substance use disorder treatment. Our care treats the alcohol use and the co-occurring PTSD, depression, or anxiety together.
Tricare for Life works alongside Medicare, and our programs do not take Medicare, so TFL is not a fit for treatment with us. The member number on your card can direct you to participating providers.
Yes. Our Delray Beach facility serves military families across Palm Beach County and South Florida, including West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, and Boynton Beach, in the Tricare East Region.
As fast as verification and any required referral allow. The admissions line answers 24/7, and the referral check happens in the first call so no time is lost discovering it later.
